April 19, 2010 824 S. Oak Park Avenue is getting a new parking lot. © Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. photo Kelly Construction Co Removes Old Building and Begins New Parking Lot for Pan's Food Center. Pan's Food Center (824 S. Oak Park Ave. Oak
Park Tel: 708-848-1340) is getting much needed parking for its
customers.
Oak Park has lost several small grocery stores in the past few years, and many were admired by residents. Certified Foods and the Villager were the latest to close. The meats at Villager were the finest around and much of what is left is only large national chains. We wish Pan's better luck. Tim Kelly of Kelly Construction directs the work on site. © Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. photo Mr. Kelly, a lifetime Oak Park resident and
former Village Park Trustee and President has a good reputation for
doing the difficult jobs and getting them done. There's a link
below to show the difficult job of moving an entire house.

system. All parking lots with over four spaces requires a sewer
system drain to meet legal requirements. There is still much to
be done on the parking lot, concrete curbs and the lot itself.
The old building (now gone), was a theater at one time, now
demolished and removed by Kelly's company. Since the structures
used every bit of their allowed real-estate they were built wall to
wall. One building gone and there are two walls that haven't seen the light
of day or weather for years. A patch was installed on one
wall where a door had been located to the theater but many other parts
of both building look to be In need of some additional work. This
property has been vacant and a growing eyesore to the neighborhood and
Village for years and will now give parking to Pan's grocery store.
Adjoining buildings will need some work later, the lower photo show a patched opening to the old theater. © Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. photo Kelly Construction Co Category: Business to Business, Construction and Real Estate, Construction Contractors, Residential Construction Contractors, Real Estate, Home Builders, Home and Garden, Construction and Improvement, General Construction Contractors 810 Wenonah Ave, Oak Park, IL 60304 708.386.5900 ![]() ![]() © Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. published by Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. |
